As a regular patron of this establishment, I can only review on the new items that have taken me by storm. The overall experience of the El Maguey of Hixson can only be determined by the individual. Taste and style that may vary from one person to another ( like AI) until recently, I enjoyed the regular items that I found good. As an adventurer of new things, I went to the staff and asked for something different. I was awarded and culinary delight simply known as a pastoria quesadilla, when added with chorizo, the salivary glands opened up and nearly drowned me! The dragon fruit margarita, infused with jalapeno tequila and fresh jalapeno peppers was a gourmet treat! The flavors blended well with the excellent food choices. I visit Hixson often to see my family since my husband and I move around the country a lot. Right now we live in Denver...Denver has EXCELLENT Mexican food btw, so I'm a pretty good judge when it comes to Mexican restaurants. Now this place was great when it opened, but they've remodeled and expanded their menu and bar now. Everything my husband and I have eaten has been delicious, plus the staff is both welcoming and attentive. Such a great place to unwind and have a yummy meal. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and the location is a bit discreet, but don't pass them up if you like Mexican food. You won't be disappointed at all. They're wonderful!
El Maguey is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The food is delicious, the margaritas devine, and the prices are low. They are always running a food/drink special of some kind, so stop by and give them a try!

Great little place just a few minutes away from Chester Frost Park and Campground. Live music on a Tuesday night was an added bonus. Seemed to be a family run resturant with great service. My son had what he said were the best fajitas he ever ate here.

The food was excellent, really fantastic Mexican food and this comes from someone who grew up in Southern California and who's family includes full blooded Mexicans. The staff is very friendly and attentive.
